Second Sunday Concerts

On the Second Sunday of each month at 2 p.m., Our Saviour becomes a concert hall for some great local acts to host free concerts for the community. In 2010 we welcomed diverse acts such as: Carribean Blues, the Berea Bluegrass Ensemble, All 5 One brass band, Tivo Jazz Orchestra, Whit Whitaker & Diana Hallman, Kevin Rice, and Outlier. Our 2011-2012 season promises to be just as ecclectic and wonderful.

These concerts are family friendly and free. Bring your kids, your parents, and anyone else and join us for some good music in a casual atmosphere. Concerts are completely free, though donations are gladly accepted at the door.

Friday Fellowship

Friday Fellowship evenings are hosted at a different parishioner's home once a month. Church members gather for an informal evening of fellowship and food. Dates and locations for Friday Fellowships are announced in the Weekly Glimpse.

 

EKU & Berea Campus Ministries

Our Saviour serves campus ministries at two college campuses in Madison County, Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond and Berea College in Berea.

The EKU Episcopal Student Ministry gathers periodically for spiritual formation, and fellowship. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are interested in participating

Berea Canterbury is a gathering of Episcopal students on the first, third, and fifth Thursdays of the month. Meetings are in the Cowan Chapel (next to Union Church) in Berea at 6:00 p.m. for Eucharist, followed by fellowship over pizza at Papa Leno's.

Men's Bible Study

Men's Bible Study takes place every Monday evening. Dinner is served to those attending in a time of fellowship, followed by an informal discussion of scripture. For more information, contact Danny Justice.

 

Men's Breakfast

Every second Saturday of the month, men from the church gather for felllowship and yummy breakfast cooked by Stephen Locke.

 

Daughters of the King

The Order of the Daughters of the King is a national organization of women dedicated to a life of prayer, service, and evangelism.

The Mary Magdalene chapter at Our Saviour the meets regularly for prayer and study. For more information about our current program, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

As part of our rule of service to the parish, the chapter helps the vicar maintain the parish prayer list and also maintains a confidential DOK prayer list. If you would like to add a prayer to either list, please contact Monica Burden ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Please be clear which list(s) you would like to be on and what type of prayer you are requesting (thanksgiving, national and international concerns, health and peace, work and other issues, spiritual needs, grieving, etc.). Prayers are typically kept on the list for two months, unless otherwise requested.

Science & Faith in Fruitful Conversation

Dr. Megan Hoffman, professor of biology at Berea College, and the Rev. Richard Burden, priest-in-charge at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, lead a discussion about issues in science and theology, laying the groundwork for the series.

The Catechism of Creation

Dr. Robert J. Schneider, retired professor of general studies and classical languages, discusses the Episcopal Church's Catechism of Creation, which he helped author, as one church's approach to the issue of science and faith, and how other denominations state their own approaches.
